The Capsule Wardrobe
Posted: Dec 02 2015
Would you like to spend less time staring into an overstuffed closet and feeling like you have nothing to wear, and more time feeling confident and beautiful in your favorite outfits? Last month, we challenged you to wear your favorite outfits every day! This month, we’re going to give you more details on how to do it. The concept of the capsule wardrobe keeps your closet organized and your budget in check, because it’s all about owning less. Here’s how this surprisingly simple idea works.
:: How to Look Great with Less Clothing ::
Start by going through your closet and getting rid of anything you don’t wear, don’t like, or don’t fit into. Also take a hard look at items you love, but that don’t match anything, or that only match one item in your closet. Versatility is your friend. Choose 33 items to wear this season. Here’s a guide to get started:
But this is just a guide. You have to create the capsule based on what’s right for you and your life. That may mean slightly more or slightly fewer articles of clothing than 33. The number isn’t important. The idea of limiting what you own is what matters.
- If there are any items on your list that are missing, go out and buy a few high-quality pieces that fit you well. (Of course, Johnna Marie has some excellent versatile staples!)
- When spring rolls around, store your sweaters and boots and get out your sandals and shorts. Keep the pieces that are still appropriate for the weather, and again, shop for any staples you might be missing. Repeat this process every season, making sure to always discard anything you don’t like or don’t wear anymore.
